It’s a great place to call home!

Welcome to Mississippi’s Success Community. Located just North of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, South of the Stone County,  and flanked on the East and West by Highways 15 and 49, respectfully, “Success” is a quaint, unassuming community. Those that make their home in this small community know they have the best of both worlds: quite, country living, yet close to town! Here, one can still hear the sounds of new born calves in spring, enjoy the smell of fresh cut hay in the summer, and see fire flies light up the skies as bright as the stars in early fall. Evenings are filled with the Cicada’s song, and an occasional Chuck Widow’s Will call to its mate.

Success Community is home to the white tail deer, red fox, opossum, black racer, the endangered gopher turtle and even a very special “Gopher” frog found no where else in the world. It’s also home to the pine lily that grows in the Pine Plantations in DeSoto National Forest, to butter cups, and butterflies. To William Carey College, St. Patrick’s High School, Tradition, and The Woods. Three churches, Success Baptist Church, Morris Hill Baptist, and Poplar Head United Methodist Church, are a significant part of the community’s rich history.

Pine Lily in Success Community

Pine Lily in Success

A once thriving community with its own school, post office, grocery stores, and sprawling farms “Success” nearly vanished. A sweet twist of fate turned the tide for a successful revival. In the aftermath of the late August 2005 storm, Katrina, the straightening and widening of Highway 67 to four lanes cut off a section of the old highway that ran through the heart of the Success Community, requiring that section of the road to be renamed. It was rightfully restored as “Success Road” re-establishing the area as a distinct community within the boundaries of Saucier.

With the new four lane highway came new schools, residential developments and businesses. Holly Berry Hills Christmas Tree Farm, Dale’s Taxidermy, Lott’s Pecans, Artist, Elizabeth Huffmaster’s, Success Hunting Supply, Dale’s Floor Installations, DDLJ, and Success Cottage, are successful businesses within the Success Community.

Thank you for stopping by to visit. We hope you will enjoy the history and getting acquainted with this wonderful place we call home!

KEEP SUCCESS BEAUTIFUL – Litter Campaign 11-16-13

Keep Success Beautiful Volunteers

Volunteers - Noah Johnson and Roy Morrow

Someone is littering our roadways again! The county has mowed the highways which is always nice. However, gone are the flowers that covered the litter! We are moving our quarterly pickup forward to November 16 from 8-11AM. Hotdogs and chips for lunch prepared by Success Seniors. This will cleanup our community’s roadways just in time for Thanksgiving when many of us have out of town guest arriving!

Please consider adopting a spot in our community so we can become the “cleanest community” on the Mississippi Gulf Coast! Keep reminding neighbors and visitors to help us keep our community litter free.  If you have suggestions – let us hear from you! Together we can make a difference!

Let’s all work for a brighter, cleaner future!
